NEDA Bicol got a hundred percent rating in the spot-checking conducted by the Department of Energy (DOE) on May 26, 2022 following the issuance of the Inter-Agency Energy Efficiency and Conservation Committee (IAEECC) Advisory on the “Mandatory Implementation of Energy Efficiency and Conservation Programs, and the Strict Observance of the Government Energy Management Program (GEMP) Guidelines.”

The DOE evaluated NEDA Bicol in terms of institutionalization of the Energy Efficiency and Conservation (ECC) as well as the implementation of fuel and electricity conservation measures. Among the measures validated by DOE are the : (1) use of air-conditioning for seven hours a day from 9:00 A.M to 12:000 N.N. and 1:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. and setting of the units at 24 degrees Celsius; (2) prudent use of elevator that is turned on only as needed, e.g.., when there is a visiting person with disability or senior citizen; (3) regular maintenance of motor vehicles and generator set; (4) scheduling of daily trips to avoid unnecessary short trips; and (5) regular updating of the GEMP online system for monitoring and reporting of energy consumption.
