The NEDA Region 5 held the blessing of its newly renovated office building last October 19, 2021 at Arimbay, Legazpi City. The blessing was officiated by Bishop Joel Z. Baylon, D.D. of the Diocese of Legazpi. RDC Chair Noel Rosal, representatives from DPWH Region 5, building contractors, and other guests graced the celebration.

The Construction/Renovation of Various NEDA Facilities Project was implemented from 2019 to 2021 with the supervision of the Department of Public Works and Highways Region 5 and of a NEDA Region 5 core group. The project renovated the almost 42 year-old NEDA 5 building and constructed a new two-storey training and dormitory building. Apart from giving the office a modern look, the renovation allows for the strategic location of the administrative and technical divisions at the ground floor of the renovated old building, and the conference halls as well as the library and records room at the second floor. This set up was intended for better coordination and interaction among personnel as well as a strategy for cost cutting measures. Moreover, facilities such as generator set, elevator, lactation room, IT room, storage room, and driver’s lounge have been added to provide better workplace for the growing NEDA 5 family and better reception for partners and guests.

The new training and dormitory building will also serve not only NEDA’s training facility requirements but is open for use of other agencies. It provides one training hall, six office rooms, and five dormitory rooms.

The completion of this project prepares the office for a new normal set up with wider personal space to maintain social distancing and create an environment conducive for productivity and creativity.
