The Balik Probinsya, Bagong Pag-asa (BP2) Committee for Bicol Region convened for its 4th quarter CY 2021 regional committee meeting on November 25, 2021 via videoconference. National Security Adviser Sec. Hermogenes C. Esperon Jr., the newly assigned Cabinet Officer for Regional Development and Security (CORDS) and BP2 chairperson for Bicol region presided over the meeting. He emphasized the importance of barangay development through the Barangay Development Program in the successful implementation of the BP2 program.

NEDA Regional Director Agnes E. Tolentino, Vice Chairperson of the BP2 Committee, presented the second semester accomplishment report.  The report highlighted the dispatch of the second batch of BP2 beneficiaries composed of 24 individuals to Camarines Sur on July 24, 2021. The concerned agencies gave updates on the assistance provided to the  BP2 beneficiaries on livelihood, family support and shelter; livelihood settlement grant; rental subsidy and provision of housing materials, among others.

The BP2 Program seeks to decongest Metro Manila by encouraging people to return to their home provinces. Through this initiative, the Regional Development Council, together with other government agencies, will work to continuously support the region’s implementation of this administration’s banner program.
