The International Association for Official Statistics is inviting participants to join the Young Statisticians Prize (YSP) 2017. The YSP is an annual competition for the best paper in the field of official statistics written by a young statistician under 35 years old as of December 15, 2016. The competition aims to encourage young statisticians to take an active interest in official statistics.
The participants should address and propose solutions to pressing methodological or strategic issues in the area of official statistics at the regional, national or international level. The paper must be written in English, not more than 10 pages, and has not been published nor presented in a public forum. Entries must be written in MS Word or compatible format, i.e., Cambria, Times New Roman, or other standard (size 12) font, with side, top, and bottom margins of one inch.
An international panel will judge the papers based on the following criteria: scientific and/or strategic merit, originality, applicability of the ideas in statistical offices, and quality of the exposition. In addition to the monetary prizes, the first place winner will receive travel funds to present the paper during one of the sessions at the 61st World Statistics Congress in Marrakech, Morocco in July 2017.
