Regional Land Use Committee conducts GIS training

The Regional Development Council (RDC) through the Regional Land Use Committee (RLUC) conducted a training on geographic information system (GIS) on February 23 to 25, 2015 at Kanzo Hall and Restaurant, Legazpi City. Mr. Jan Revoltar of the Housing and Land Use Regulatory Board was the resource person.

The training was designed to capacitate RLUC member agencies and NEDA staff in GIS mapping which is an indispensable tool in planning. A total of 25 participants from RLUC member agencies (DA, DAR, DOST, DOT, DPWH, DTI, DENR, OCD, and NEDA) attended the training.

Lectures and hands-on exercises using the Quantum GIS mapping software were given on the first and second days of the said activity. The participants were divided into groups to work on and present map outputs on the last day.

NEDA OIC RD and RLUC Chairperson Agnes Espinas, during the closing program, expressed appreciation to the resource person and assured the participants of the committee’s continued support to similar undertakings leading to the formulation of the regional spatial development framework.gistrng
