The four sectoral committees of the RDC conducted the second quarter meeting on May 8 and 9 at the NEDA Region 5 in Legazpi City. Common agenda items for information were the CY 2013 regional development report, the 116th anniversary of Philippine independence, the Albay-Masbate-Sorsogon (ALMASOR) area development plan, and the status of projects proposed under the grassroots participatory budget process (GPBP).
The Economic Development Committee (EDC) meeting was presided by EDC Co-Chairman Ms. Marlyn J. Paje, Deputy Director of Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas Regional Unit. The EDC agenda for information are: Bula Mini Fish Processing Plant Project, Multi-Species Hatchery Project, Mangrove Project, and Technology Transfer Projects.
The Infrastructure Development Committee meeting was presided by its chairman, Mr. Alfredo S. Aquino, private sector representative of Catanduanes. The committee endorsed the proposed acquisition of vehicle under Energy Regulations 1-94 and Senate Bill No. 2167 (Sec. 47 of EPIRA Law). Matters for information included the status of funds under Energy Regulations 1-94, the farm to market roads development program and the Catanduanes circumferential road project.
The Development Administration Committee was presided by its chairman, Mr. Ramon Bravo, private sector representative of Masbate. Included in the matters for information were the status of the Training of Trainers on CLUP preparation, National Internal Revenue Code, establishment of local disaster risk reduction and management offices, and the CY 2014 Gawad Kalasag Award.
The Social Development Committee (SDC) meeting was presided by SDC co-chairman Ms. Salve Cadag, private sector representative of Camarines Sur. The SDC endorsed the Basic Education Madrasah Program, Joint Migration and Development Initiative 2, request of the Indigenous Peoples’ Sectoral Council for RDC membership, and integrated Family Planning/Maternal, Neonatal, and Child Health Nutrition projects.
