The Regional Development Council (RDC) 5 held its third quarter full council meeting last September 5 (Friday). The meeting was presided by RDC Chairman, Gov. Joey Sarte Salceda.
The RDC 5 endorsed the coconut scale insect control program, convergence program for OFWs, Bicol agri-water expansion project, utilization of the regional share of the energy fund, Plan for Albay Glenda Early Recovery and Reconstruction (PAGERR), Bicol rehabilitation and recovery plan for typhoon Glenda and recommendations of the Development Administrative Committee on the road widening project concerns.
The RDC 5 approved the Strategic Regional Development Agenda to identifu major development concerns and appropriate strategic interventions that will make Bicol at par with other more advanced regions in the country.
The RDC 5 supported the resolution of RDC 11 on Regional Development Budgeting Process Framework to bridge the gaps in regional budget allocation
The RDC 5 also adopted the project of the Banko Sentral ng Pilipinas Legazpi under National Coin Recirculation Program entitled “Sinsilyo Mo, Tabang sa Klasrum Ko”.
The RDC 5 confirmed the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) as special non-voting member of the RDC.
The Sorsogon Provincial Sports Complex project was approved by the RDC for inclusion in the Regional Development Investment Program subject to submission of the revised proposal.
The body recognized the local government units of Daet, Camarines Norte (1st place) and Naga City (3rd place) for being among the competitive cities and municipalities nationwide based on the Cities and Municipalities Competitiveness Index 2014. Legazpi City was also recognized as one of the Galing Pook winners for 2014. The RDC 5 lauds Bicol awardees for 2014 Metrobank Foundation Search for Outstanding Teachers.
