PDP 2017-2022 midterm updating rolls out in Bicol

Bicolanos showed their strong support during the regional consultation on the Philippine Development Plan (PDP) 2017 to 2022 Midterm Update held on July 25 in Legazpi City. This was manifested by the active participation of 110 stakeholders representing the stakeholders in the region, from the government and the private sector. The activity aimed to gather inputs from the regional stakeholders, and seek recommendations on issues that require action at the national level.

Asec Mercedita Sombilla of NEDA presented the salient features of the draft PDP 2017-2022 Midterm Update. She cited the relevant trends, and development by 2022 and beyond.

Breakout sessions were organized to elicit insights from stakeholders. Increasing government and private investments to support the unmet development needs and to sustain the economic growth of the region are among the challenges cited. The establishment of multi-modal transport systems; intensification of research and development particularly in agriculture; enhancement of capacities among agencies and LGUs; pursuit of reforms in the existing policy and regulatory frameworks; promotion of favorable investment climate were among the recommendations during the workshop.

With the PDP consultation, the Bicolano stakeholders look forward to achieve unity and stronger alignment of the PDP, Bicol Regional Development Plan and local development plans towards the attainment of a Matatag, Maginhawa at Panatag na Buhay para sa Lahat.
