A total of 25 personnel of NEDA Region 5 participated in a three-day training on Internal Quality Audit (IQA) on February 25 to 27 at Kanzo Hall and Restaurant, Legazpi City.

The training capacitated the staff in understanding and applying the principles and processes in internal audit in accordance with ISO 9011:2008 standards. Course methodology included lectures, role playing, written examination, and actual exercises in planning and conducting an internal audit.

Lectures on the role and required competency of auditors, audit types, the audit life cycle, principles of auditing, managing and implementing an audit programme, objective evidence and internal quality audit procedure were presented on the first two days of the training. Towards the end of the second day, a workshop on the preparation of an audit plan was undertaken.

A written examination was conducted on the third day to gauge the understanding and knowledge gained by the participants from the lectures and workshops. The participants were grouped into four teams and conducted an actual audit of the core and support processes of NEDA Region 5. The findings of the audit teams were presented during a closing meeting. Through the practical audit, the participants enhanced their appreciation and understanding of the quality management system.

The activity is an undertaking of NEDA Region 5 towards ISO certification. The training was conducted by HAE Consultancy and Training Services.
