NEDA conducts briefing on the Bicol RDP 2017-2022 Operational Plan

The NEDA Region 5 conducted a briefing on the preparation of the Bicol Regional Development Plan 2017-2022 Operational Plan last August 18, 2017.  The briefing was attended by 66 planning officers and/or representatives from local government units, regional line agencies, and civil society organizations.

The briefing aimed at gaining the support of the region’s development partners to ensure that the RDP gets implemented through a more focused, integrated, cohesive, and convergent implementation of various programs, activities, and projects (PAPs) in the region. The Operational Plan will contain doable PAPs of all duty bearers, namely: (a) regional line agencies, (b) local government units, (c) government-owned and controlled corporations, (d) state universities and colleges, (e) business sector, (f) civil society, and (g) non-government organizations. Through this undertaking, the gaps between the RDP targets and the PAPs addressing such targets are hoped to be addressed.

The presentation of the RDP Operational Plan consisted of a brief discussion of the Bicol RDP chapters, framework, development planning process, and the template and timeline of the preparation of the RDP operational plan. The value of the preparation of the Operational Plan was recognized by the participants as it will define their specific roles in the implementation of the Bicol RDP. The representatives from the private sector expressed their desire to strengthen their participation in order to attain the targets set in the Bicol RDP.
