The NEDA Region 5 convened on April 16 (Thursday) the Bicol Regional Census Coordinating Board (RCCB) in preparation for the conduct of the 2015 Census of Population (2015 POPCEN).
The 2015 POPCEN aims to provide government executives, policy and decision makers, and planners with population data, especially updated population counts of all barangays in the country, on which to base their social and economic development plans, policies, and programs. It will be conducted nationwide for the whole month of August. The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) is the lead agency in the conduct of the 2015 POPCEN.
The RCCB agreed to enlist the assistance of additional government agencies and private organizations for the successful conduct of the 2015 POPCEN. It issued Resolution No. 2015-01 to strengthen the composition of the regional, provincial, city and municipal Census Coordinating Boards (R/P/C/MCCBs) for the 2015 POPCEN. The membership was increased to include: (1) PIA, BJMP, AFP, PNP, TESDA and Social Action Center (SAC) as additional members of the RCCB; (2) DILG, PIA, BJMP, TESDA, NCIP and SAC as additional members of the PCCBs; and (3) DILG and Liga ng mga Barangay as additional members of the C/MCCBs.
The RCCB also agreed on the following: (1) invite the three major services of the AFP to help secure the safety and mobility of the enumerators; (2) tap uniformed personnel to help in the total enumeration of military population and ensure confidentiality of military socio-demographic data; (3) members to submit to the RCCB secretariat on April 24 (Friday) the commitment and timeline of assistance for the conduct of the 2015 POPCEN; and (3) hang streamer or tarpaulin of the 2015 POPCEN in the offices of RCCB member agencies for publicity.
