The NEDA Regional Office 5 conducted a workshop on mainstreaming disaster risk reduction (DRR) and climate change adaptation (CCA) in the provincial development and physical framework plans (PDPFPs) on March 10 to 13 at Sarung Banggi Beach Resort, Sto. Domingo, Albay. There were twelve participants from the provincial planning and development offices of Albay, Camarines Sur, Catanduanes, Masbate, and Sorsogon.
Dr. Candido Cabrido, consultant of the Integrating DRR/CCA Project, and Engr. Christopher Ian Santos, GIS specialist commented on the draft disaster risk and climate change vulnerability assessment (DR/VA) reports and DRR/CCA-enhanced PDPFPs of the provinces.
The DRR/CCA-enhanced PDPFPs are expected to be completed on March 31, 2014. So far, only the province of Camarines Norte has submitted the DRR/CCA-enhanced PDPFP to NEDA-Regional Development Staff. A follow-up writeshop for the provinces of Camarines Sur and Masbate will be held on March 19 to 21 at NEDA Region 5 to complete the DR/VA reports and DRR/CCA-enhanced PDPFPs.
