The National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) Region 5 conducted a briefing on the updated Bicol Regional Development Plan 2011–2016 for media persons on September 25 (Thursday) at the NEDA Region 5, Legazpi City. This is part of communicating the Bicol RDP to various stakeholders and key players in regional development to raise the level of awareness and encourage wider participation in plan implementation.
Broadcast and print media persons from Albay and other provinces in the region attended the briefing. Also present were public information officers of key implementing agencies comprising the Regional Information and Advocacy Committee, a special committee of the Regional Development Council.
The half-day briefing started with a presentation of the Bicol RDP with focus on the role of media as stakeholders in plan advocacy and implementation. During the open forum that followed, the participants expressed their willingness to help disseminate the RDP in their respective circles and areas.
The media briefing is the second of five stakeholders’ briefings that NEDA Region 5 has scheduled for the year. The briefing for private stakeholders and business groups was held on August 27. Other briefings to be undertaken are for the academe, local government units, and civil society organizations in October and November.
