The NEDA Region 5, in partnership with the Organization of NEDA Employees (ONE) 5, joined the nation in celebrating the 2017 Nutrition Month with the theme “Healthy Diet, Gawing Habit for Life” last July 31 at NEDA Region 5, Arimbay, Legaspi City. The activity was highlighted with the cooking competition, and a briefing by the National Nutrition Council (NCC) Region 5 representative on this year’s nutrition month theme. The activity aimed to promote wellness and healthy lifestyle through preparation of nutritious meals, and develop camaraderie among employees while showcasing their talents and creativity in cooking.
The NEDA 5 personnel were pre-grouped according to their division and were given one hour to prepare their chosen recipe based on the assigned main ingredient in a PhP1, 000.00 budget. Each group was rated based on the criteria Mise en place (20 points), sanitation and hygiene (20 points), teamwork (10 points), and taste and nutritional value (50 points). Ms. Marlyn Valeza of the NNC, RD Agnes Espinas-Tolentino, and ARD Edna Cynthia Berces were the members of the panel of judges. The activity ended with the awarding of winners.
The Finance and Administrative Division grabbed the first place with their “Chicken Binakol” recipe. Second place was the Development and Research Division with their “Beef Avocado Bomb” recipe, and third was Policy Formulation and Planning Division with their “Sustainable Seafood Kare-Kare. The Project Monitoring and Evaluation Division with their “grilled blue marlin with buttered corn and lemon” and the Project Development Investment Programming and Budgeting Division with their “Korean-style Lechon Kawali” received consolation prizes.
