Improved project implementation through better project monitoring and evaluation

Development stakeholders in the Bicol region committed to improve project monitoring and evaluation (M&E) to facilitate project implementation during the orientation on Regional Project Monitoring and Evaluation System (RPMES) last September 24 to 26 in Legazpi City.

The orientation conducted by the Bicol Regional Project Monitoring Committee (RPMC) was participated in by 46 representatives of regional line agencies, RDC private sector representatives, state universities and colleges (SUCs) on September 24, and by 56 local government units (LGUs) on the next two days.

The activity aimed to orient new project monitors on the basic concepts of results-based monitoring and evaluation, RPMES framework and guidelines, and roles of the local project monitoring committees (LPMCs).

Dir. Agnes E. Tolentino, Bicol RPMC Chair, underscored the importance of (M&E) in attaining the goals and aspirations of the Ambisyon Natin 2040. The need to strengthen the linkage between and among the implementing agencies and LPMCs to facilitate M&E activities through submission of reliable project status reports was likewise highlighted.

Implementing agencies committed to provide the RPMC with quarterly status reports of their priority projects for monitoring. On one hand, the LGUs recognized the need to reactivate their respective LPMCs to effectively facilitate implementation of programs and projects within their jurisdiction.
