The NEDA Region 5 received an award for being an outstanding partner of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP), specifically for providing regular reports on regional economic development. Ms. Agnes E. Tolentino, regional director of NEDA Region 5, received the finely crafted “eagle trophy” during the 2019 Awards Ceremony and Appreciation Lunch for BSP Stakeholders in Region 5 on October 1, 2019 at the Avenue Plaza Hotel, Naga City.
The NEDA Region 5 has been consistently providing timely and accurate information to the BSP for its annual publication, the Regional Economic Development in the Philippines, and for the formulation of policies for financial stability as well. Finalists for the same category were the regional offices of the Philippine Statistics Authority and the Department of Agriculture.
The awards ceremony focused on the theme, “One Team, One Goal: Resilient Partnership towards Inclusive Economic Growth”. Ms. Haydee R. Paulino, acting deputy director of the Department of Economic Statistics of BSP, presented the economic situation of the Bicol Region vis-à-vis Luzon Island and the Philippines.
In his keynote speech, BSP Monetary Board Member Bruce Tolentino, called for the continuous support of the stakeholders to BSP in carrying out its mandate of maintaining price stability, promoting financial stability, and ensuring an effective payments and settlements system in the country. He emphasized the importance of having a resilient partnership towards the attainment of a shared vision and inclusive economic growth.
