The Bicol Regional Tourism Committee of the RDC conducted a consultation workshop on the Albay Masbate Sorsogon (ALMASOR) area development plan (ADP) 2015-2020 on March 25, 2014 at NEDA Region, Arimbay, LegazpiCity.
The consultation workshop aims to solicit comments and inputs to the finalization of the ALMASOR ADP. It also aimed at getting the support of the various stakeholders and instills a sense of ownership of the plan.
The ALMASOR ADP, on its 2nd draft, will serve as the blueprint of the tourism sector for the three provinces which is anchored on the updated Regional Development Plan. It addresses the primary concerns of the tourism sector in the next six years related to the development of quality tourism products, access and connectivity, and governance that are crucial to sustainable tourism development.
The consultation workshop was coordinated by NEDA Region 5. It was attended by 80 participants composed of local chief executives (LCEs) from the ALMASOR provinces, local tourism officers, regional line agencies and the private sector.
Valuable inputs were generated particularly on product development, critical infrastructure, investments supportive to tourism (i.e. solid waste management, watershed management), and institutional development (i.e. trainings, creation of local tourism offices).
The NEDA Region 5, in close collaboration with DOT Region 5, conducted rapid assessment of tourism potential, familiarization tour, and consultations with LCEs, local tourism and planning officers, and communities in crafting the ALMASOR ADP.
