Bicol region conducts the first joint Bicol RDC and RPOC meeting

With the objective of harmonizing peace and development efforts to improve the socioeconomic development of Bicol region, the Regional Development Council (RDC) and the Regional Peace and Order Council (RPOC) conducted a joint meeting on March 11, 2019 at the Legazpi City Convention Center. This is the first joint meeting that the two Councils ever had and is seen to be continued at least once a year.

The Executive Order (EO) No. 70, series of 2018 “Institutionalizing the Whole-of-Nation Approach in Attaining Inclusive and Sustainable Peace, Creating a National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict, and Directing the Adoption of a National Peace Framework” was the focus of the discussion during the meeting. Along with this was a brief on the security situation in the Bicol region and the presentation of the conflict affected areas which will become the convergence points for government services to address insurgency.

The members of both Councils resolved to support the institutionalization of the whole-of-nation approach in attaining inclusive and sustainable peace in the region and to create a regional task force to implement EO 70. Legazpi City Mayor and RPOC Chairperson Noel E. Rosal capped off the meeting with the signing of the pledge of commitment by the members of the RDC and the RPOC.
