The Bicol Regional Development Council (RDC) in its meeting held on March 3, 2017, endorsed the FY 2018 programs, activities and projects (PAPs) of the 33 agency regional offices (AROs) and state universities and colleges (SUCs).
The FY 2018 total proposed budget of P162.9 billion is 63.1 percent higher than the previous year and represents 57.91 percent of the CY 2015 GRDP. Out of the 99.86 billion proposed in 2017, 94.76 billion or 94.9 percent was approved and included in the FY 2017 General Appropriations Act (GAA). The social sector gets the biggest chunk of the FY 2017 budget with 141.80 percent, followed by the infrastructure sector at 58.9 percent, the development administration sector at 75.4 percent and the economic sector at 40 percent.
Meanwhile, in the FY 2018 budget proposal, the infrastructure sector has the biggest share with 46.75 percent, followed by the social sector with 44.54 percent, the economic sector with 7.82 percent and the DevAd sector with 1 percent. Among the agencies, DPWH proposed the biggest investment at P73.3 billion, followed by the DepEd at P 51.4 billion while LTFRB has the smallest budget at P20.94 million.
The FY 2018 agency budget proposals will be endorsed to the respective agency central offices and CHED (for SUCs) for inclusion in their FY 2018 Agency Budget Proposals.
