The Bicol Regional Development Council (RDC), through Resolution No. 13, Series of 2017, approved the advocacy plan for the Bicol Regional Development Plan 2017-2022, along with the Philippine Development Plan and the Ambisyon Natin 2040. The advocacy plan aims to raise awareness, promote commitment and encourage participation of various stakeholders in the region as development partners.
The activities identified in the advocacy plan include the creation of an ad hoc committee on advocacy, production of advocacy materials, organization and training of an inter-agency and multi-sectoral pool of speakers, conduct of advocacy caravans, and advertisements through quad-media. The ad hoc committee chairperson and vice chairperson are RD Agnes M. Espinas of NEDA Region 5 and RD Aida Naz of PIA Region 5, respectively. The members are representatives of DepEd, CHED, DOH, DSWD, DTI, DA, DENR, DPWH, and DILG, provincial planning and development offices, and private sector representatives of the RDC.
The ad hoc committee on advocacy conducted its first meeting on March 8 and discussed the: (a) creation of an inter-agency and multi-sectoral pool of speakers; (b) production of advocacy materials; (c) implementation of the CY 2017 committee work plan; and (d) adoption of strategies for high-impact advocacy. The members of the pool of speakers will be finalized during the next meeting of the ad hoc committee on March 31.
