The Bicol regional Committee on Migration and Development (CMD), chaired by the Department of Labor and Employment led the celebration of the month of overseas Filipinos (MOF) in December this year with the theme is “Kaalaman sa Pera, Maginhawang Buhay and Dala: Towards Financial Literacy for Overseas Filipinos and Their Families.”
OFW Family Day on December 8, 2018 at the Albay Astrodome, Legazpi City
Activities included fun walk, motorcade, thanksgiving mass, Zumba, financial literacy seminars, financial management trainings for OFWs, parol-making contest, choral competition, showcase of talents of OFW children, press conference, games and raffles, trade fairs, and local and overseas jobs fairs. These activities gathered thousands of participants from government, private sector, civil society organizations, and migrant returnees and their families from the different provinces of the region.

Presidential Proclamation No. 276 institutionalized the celebration of MOF in December of every year to recognize and honor overseas Filipinos for their contribution in building up the Philippine economy through taxes and remittances.
