The NEDA Region 5, as part of activities in celebration of NEDA’s 45th anniversary, conducted an outreach activity on January 26 in Puro Elementary School in Legazpi City. The school is one of the designated evacuation centers where about 240 evacuees from barangay Padang are staying while Mayon Volcano is showing signs of hazardous eruption. The NEDA employees performed the Tunog ng Progreso dance to the delight of the evacuees who gathered in a covered court of the school. A number of children and their parents joined the NEDAns in the second round of the dance. The employees distributed food packs to the evacuees. The RD and some staff checked the condition of the evacuees and discussed with the camp manager possible assistance particularly on hygiene and sanitation.
The NRO 5 employees started the weeklong celebration of NEDA’s 45th anniversary by joining the Saturday Zumba session on January 20 where the Tunog ng Progreso was played. The Zumba session is open to the public every Saturday at 6 a.m. at the Legazpi boulevard. The organizer, Mr. Bobby Ala, agreed to include the Tunog ng Progreso in the regular playlist and a number of NRO 5 employees committed to join the Zumba session every Saturday.
On January 22, Director Agnes Espinas-Tolentino led the opening of a photo gallery at the office lobby. It featured photos of past and present NEDAns in action through the years. On January 24, NRO 5 employees offered a thanksgiving mass, presided by Rev. Fr. Rex Paul Arjona, RDC 5 private sector representative.
To cap the weeklong celebration, eighteen (18) NRO 5 employees were awarded with loyalty certificates and gifts in recognition of their continuous and dedicated service of 30 years and above. Among the awardees, Mr. Vicente C. Macasinag and Ms. Rosemarie O. Buan had the longest service of 38 and 37 years, respectively.
