The Philippine National Volunteer Service Coordinating Agency (PNVSCA) recognized two Bicol volunteer organizations as regional awardees in the 2014 Search for Outstanding Volunteers.
The Ateneo Sarong Bangui Junior Eagles (ASBJE) Club of the Ateneo de Naga University and the Social Action Center (SAC) -Diocese of Legazpi were awarded certificates of appreciation during the regional volunteer sharing session held on April 23 at NEDA Region 5 in LegazpiCity.
The ASBJE was recognized for mobilizing its roster of student-volunteers in the implementation of sustainable community-oriented programs on environment, shelter and sanitation, and education. Its TARPADYAK project which provided pedicab drivers in NagaCity with recycled but durable and attractive tarpaulin covers showcasing Bicol culture and art-inspired designs.
The SAC-Diocese of Legazpi was chosen for leading the social and development work of the diocese and translating into action the Church’s greater involvement in community work and social concerns in Albay. Its Child Abuse Prevention and Intervention Unit and sustainable disaster management programs have been emulated by the Archdiocese of Davao and diocese of Masbate.
The PNVSCA is conducting the annual search for outstanding volunteers to highlight exemplary performance and dedication of Filipino volunteers.
